Honestly my favorite place to eat and drink on the island by far. The food was great. I had the Kaarage which is made with boneless dark meat and delightfully crunchy. The grilled eggplant was smoky and creamy, and their yakko tofu was light but savory with a little kick. The “who you gonna call” cocktails along with the sorbetto and others I sampled are light tasting, refreshing and made strong. Ryan the bartender was excellent conversation and very attentive and the service from him and the rest of the waitstaff was quick. He has some serious knowledge of food and cocktails so I’m convinced he could make anything. The bar was the quietest atmosphere I’ve found so if you need a place to wind down catch it when they aren’t hosting an event because during those it will be packed. The entire facility was clean and modern, and they have artwork paying tribute to the landline telephone which is fun and a little nostalgic. It’s a place you could go to for a quick bite or drink but will want to linger in for much longer. The pricing is competitive for the area. I will definitely be back and would recommend it.

I almost passed on this place due to the funky name and the fact that it's a hotel restaurant, but it really is a great fusion Izakaya, probably one of the best! Everything was well executed (except a few pieces of beef tongue), usually with some nice creative twists. Servers gave great recommendations (you could tell they did try the food personally). Price wasn't high at all compared to other Izakayas, and they had some affordable, filling (and equally delicious!) dishes (best okonomiyaki I've had!).

It's insane to me how anyone could have a bad experience here. So, to the handful of negative reviews, you're entitled to your wrong opinions. I don't have too many photos of the dishes here. Sorry, but when a place is good I just grind. I love this place for so many reasons and have been here at least a dozen times. The first time I ever stepped foot in here I noticed the wallpaper and I loved that little homage to the classic diners of yesteryear seemlessly blended into the interior decor. Even the canvas like material of the menus provides a sensory experience that sends you back to your childhood, using a pay phone and thumbing through the pages of the attached phone books. The fonts were a nice little detail as well. Reminded me of places like Wisteria and just of all the places that ceased to exist in Hawai’i once I hit adulthood. But you don't want to read yapping about that. As I mentioned, I don't have a lot of pictures of the food here, but trust that it's bomb. I always get the Prime Beef Skirt Steak and will usually load up on sashimi. 10/10 opt for the aloha spoon as well because uni is the custard of the sea. My go-to drink is the Kiss Me Thru the Phone. It's a perfectly balanced cocktail with awayuki white strawberry gin, mint, lemon, egg white and a sprinkle of matcha. The umami from the matcha really does wonders to bring everything together and is an overall very refreshing drink. All the dishes are pretty good, the karaage is probably another go to. The rolls are decent as well as the okonomiyaki, scallop yaki, and kalbi. I think the only thing I didn't care for too much was the Hanabi Sashimi I had one of the last times I came, a bit salty for my palette. Also wish they still had the croquettes.

We had a great meal here, the food was promptly served, the server had great recommendations and we loved all the dishes. Don't forget the cocktails, they were very well balanced and sophisticated. The ambiance was upscale, I highly recommend this place, loved it!

Such delicious food, and the servers were so nice to answer questions and try to make our more custom requests happen. Loved the ahi tuna tataki, wagyu (we got Miyazaki), oko oko pancake, shrimp tempura, and Sendai curry yakisoba! We ordered quite a lot of food, generally 50-100 per person would be more expected

Quaint and modern restaurant located a step away from the International Marketplace. Service was friendly and attentive. Food arrived timely and tried several items on the menu. Flavors were a mix of modern and traditional. Portions may look small but with the prices being so affordable for many of the dishes, you can get full quite fast ordering a lot but not breaking the bank. Definitely would bring friends and family here to experience good food away from the bustle of the Waikiki crowds. They also have a special gift for solo diners.

Claire and Mateo were absolutely wonderful. We ordered a bit of everything - aloha spoon, Godzilla roll, prime beef tongue, scallop yaki, ahi tuna tataki, Miyazaki wagyu. We can recommend all of it! Everything came out relatively fast and was very delicious.

We love Japan, and we have been to Japan. This Izakaya is a place to be in Waikiki. Good food and good cocktail. We found the prices fair compared to other places this standing in Waikiki. This will remain on our top 3 favorite restaurant here. 69 per person with 2 cocktails and 4 big plates to share ! Thanks to the team !
